Dark Luminance was a mixed reality exhibition comprising of real and virtual artworks. It occurred in a real gallery space and in the virtual world of Second Life. Second Life is a multi-user 3D virtual world accessed via the internet in real - time. The real and virtual artworks were created by five Melbourne based artists, and comprise of sound installation, prints, graffiti, painting and projections. The real artworks were recreated digitally within Second Life. In the real gallery space, the real and virtual artworks were displayed together. The user's avatar (digital version of the user), controlled from a remote computer, was able to interact with the virtual art in Second Life, and this was projected onto the gallery wall.
